using digital camera on the road

Question:

Now, I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m planning to utilize one of the online storage sites, for my digital pics, when I go to Italy.  There’s www.driveway.com and www.idrive.com and probably many more sites available. Gail

I think the only practical way to use a digital camera on long trips is to use the Sony mavica,as this stores the images on floppy discs, However the camera is larger thann most others and in the early ones the images were not so good ,however if you want to view the pictures on computer on;y then the image quality is more than fine.I believe the latest ones are much improved . I took one to India and was able to let anyone with a compute ,say in a hotel ,see the images . Otherwise ,take a conventional 35mm and scan at home using a film scanner .You can get first class prints using a decent photo printer …regards roy

Depends on what type of memory card you have.  I am going to Britan in June and plan on taking the camera.  I use smartmedia cards and found 8 meg cards on Mobshop for $5 last month.  Got 3 and want to get more.  Lately they are at $10.  Just grab a handful.

Forget about internet cafe’s. I don’t know how you download to your PC. I have a Nikon and I use a Card reader that has to be installed. I doubt they would let you set it up. If you can’t buy more memory all you can do is shoot at a lower rez or do what I do now. Bring a laptop. It would probably be cheaper to buy more memory than pay for the online time. Aren’t there some adapters that let you plug the camera into a floppy drive slot.  You could then  email the data to yourself so it will be there when you get home.  Or was this something I dreamed about? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Forget about internet cafe’s. There are two types of memory cards. One of them can use a floppy adapter but you still have to install software to run it. Depending on the images you can’t transfer more than 5-6 to a floppy anyway. This should help http://www.shortcourses.com/choosing/travel.htm Norm Ramsay Ottawa Canada http://members.home.com/travelpix/
