According to NavTech (suppliers of the data for BMW’s Navigation system) TMC is not yet available in the UK.  Only Germany and Benelux have it currently; France, UK, Switzerland, and Denmark are supposed to start later this year.   See <http://www.navtech.com/order/europe/dist_eur_tmc.html> for more information. marcos – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >Hello >I have a `99 UK-spec 328Ci, whic has the full-screen high navigation system. >I find this system good, if a bit slow, but there is a feature on it which >is currently disabled. Hello I have a `99 UK-spec 328Ci, whic has the full-screen high navigation system. I find this system good, if a bit slow, but there is a feature on it which is currently disabled. This is the RDS-TMC (Radio Data System – Traffic Message Channel). The idea of this is that your radio receives encoded data relating to the traffic conditions in you local area, and the navigation system is supposed to display symbols on the map to show you where traffic hold-ups are. When a destination is programmed in, the system is supposed to route you around these trouble spots. I know that the data is being broadcast in the UK, as Volvo’s system uses RDS-TMC and it works. The problem is that when I try to activate TMC, the system says "RDS-TMC function not available". I have been told various things such as "TMC is not active in the UK" (It must be – see my comments about Volvo), "Your system does not support TMC" (the menu selection is there!), "Your map CD does not support TMC yet" (plausible), "BMW plan to release a new version of the system software which will allow TMC to function" (Possibly – I hope so!) Does anyone know the truth behind these rumours? I have been sent a flyer through the post from BMW saying that a new version of the map CD is available, and that I should update it so as to benefit from altered routes. It makes no mention of  RDS-TMC. Could updating the map CD do the trick, or do I need new system software (which is apparently loaded from a different CD)? I have spoken to representatives from various BMW dealers, but nobody seems to know the answer. Can anyone help? Best regards Alex
