Review is almost ready
Question:
The Connie, Viking Group, Cruise with Tom Kanitra, cruise. This review is long. I cut some of it, but it is still long. A lot of it is stuff I said on various threads, though some of it isn’t. I don’t know if Charles is going to write one on Connie’s sister ship the Summit, I’d be interested in his contrasting views (this time he’ll have positives where I have negatives). Also Jeff’s. I don’t know, I get tired of hearing my own points after reading and rereading it, and I know still there will be errors and some repetition of points. Well, I’ll post it soon. Hope there are some areas that I haven’t been banging people over the heads with in threads here recently. Ben S.

I have one almost written, but I have had a hard time finishing it. I kind of feel somewhat tainted by the long discussion that went on about the recent Celebrity sailings. That is, the review would be influenced by discussion. Also I have already posted most of what I would have in a review. — Charles

Ben, I am looking forward to reading it so leave everything in there. You and I look at cruises differently and it is interesting and informative for me to read reviews like yours. It never hurts to look at things from a different perspective. In talking with Ben during the cruise, I found that Ben and I also look at cruises quite differently. And while you and Ben disagree in terms of liking Celebrity… Ben and I both DO like Celebrity. So I think it’s interesting how we must each get different things out of Celebrity. Like Ben said in another post… first and foremost, I like being in the Caribbean. The ports are the most important thing to me. I can’t see me ever picking a ship that does an itinerary that I don’t like, just to go on the ship. Then, after that, the cruise comes into play. But I’m actually only in port maybe 4 hours a day… so the other 20 hours are on the ship. So the ship is still very important. But, it’s after I come back from port that Ben and I look for different things from a ship. When I come back from port, I’m exhausted, and looking for time to veg. That’s also when Ben’s looking for things to be happening on the ship. Lounges to have music, dancing, etc. I’m happy lying on the balcony, reading a book, or doing something equally inactive. It’s really only at dinner that our differences seem to disappear, where we ultimately come together in what we’re looking for. And, even after dinner, I’d just as soon be up on deck with my GPS than in a lounge listing to music. I actually think that a crossing would appeal to Ben, while for me it would likely be sheer torture. Me… I’ll take a 5 port cruise any time over 3 or 4 ports, or over 0 ports. But it’s interesting how our differences play out in terms of what we like and dislike on a ship. –Tom – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> This review is long.
