FYI re: photopoint.com

Question:

I haven’t seen this discussed here, but I could have easily missed it if it has been. A few days ago I tried to go to my photopoint account for the first time in months, but was unable to do so.  No big deal,  I’ll just try later.  Still can’t get there, so I do a google search and found this: http://www.newsbytes.com/news/01/173200.html I have nothing there that is important,  But I did pay them for one year of service. –Jynx–

Response:

I was not to surprised by it. All they got me for was $10, so no big deal. I did back up all the pictures we had there just in case they did this again. —

PhotoPoint is dead.  A digital camera newsgroup I read had many postings about them.  One poster said his office is across the hall from theirs. Their equipment was leased and the leasing company hauled it all away. The office is closed.  That’s the bad news. The good news is, there is a nice FREE site hosted by Sony that you may be interested in using: http://www.imagestation.com/ among others. http://www.ofoto.com/Welcome.jsp by Kodak seems nice.  Their customer support was fast to respond by a human, not just a bot. You may have noticed lately that BlueMountain.com, the greeting card site, had limited its free access to a few items.  The Sony site lets you send very nice photo post cards for free.  It even allows you to store a limited amount of .mpg files for free. — Sincerely, Joanne If it’s right for you, then it’s right, . . . . . for you!!! I noticed that, too.  I have a lot of albums there and now they are gone…they took out money and ran. Jayne & Pepsi (CAG) Frankie (MSC2) Peaches (MOL2)
