electric plug adapter/voltage converter
Question:
These type of chargers use what is called an "off-line" switcher — they have a regulator circuit which senses voltage and frequency and adjusts an oscilators "pulse duration" inversely with the input voltage — my Rollei battery charger works this way. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I have a Pentax Optio 430 digital camera. > The battery charger says INPUT: AC 100-240V 50-60 Hz 6W > If I understand this correctly, when using this in Europe (France, Germany, > Netherlands), all I will need is an adapter for the plug, and no voltage > converter is needed because the battery charger will automatically accept > the 220 European voltage. > Am I correct? > (direct email copy of your response is greatly appreciated) > — > Thomas A. Response:
I have a Pentax Optio 430 digital camera. The battery charger says INPUT: AC 100-240V 50-60 Hz 6W If I understand this correctly, when using this in Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands), all I will need is an adapter for the plug, and no voltage converter is needed because the battery charger will automatically accept the 220 European voltage. Am I correct? (direct email copy of your response is greatly appreciated) — Thomas A. Bruno, Champaign, Illinois, USA http://www.tombruno.com

Yes. Most laptop chargers, and some mobile phone chargers, also work this way.
