Question:

If you want a cheap one that’ll do the job, try walmart!!! I got a polariod funflash digital camera there for cheap. They cost about 90 dollars at our local walmart. -Jeremy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Hey, dudes, have any of you had any experience with the new breed of  "video > camera" that plugs into the USB port on your ‘puter? I have not used one of those.  For what it’s worth, you can use any 35mm camera, and have your pictures developed at any number of places (my local Wallgreens even does it now) and they can have the images put on a floppy disc.  And if you use a reasonable film speed like 200, you should get decent resolution, 400 would be too fast and your pictures would suck.         will not provide good resolution (you         need about 1 meg pixels for a good pic).         Skip ebay, as most of the pricing I have         seen comes close to store retail, many         times without warranty for used a         camera. Might as well buy new at         a local store, and get the warranty.         A.C. A.Cirella Handmade Electronics new: http://www.hndme.com Parts, supplies, troubleshooting guide

Roy, I assume that you mean a digital camera and you can get a good one for about $300. I have seen several models for sale in that range made by various brands and the ease of use and quality of images will astound you. I think that the $300 Olympus is model 360. As usual, I am waiting for the prices to come down so I will probably never get one or the prices will come down drastically the week after I do make a purchase.. Seriously?  How are the pictures?  I’ve been thinking that a digital camera would be a good way to get my kid into photography because the savings in the cost of film/processing would pay for the camera over time – if there was a cheap enough camera.  The quality wouldn’t need to be *that* good for this purpose.  This sounds like the way to go. 400 is too grainny, especially after being turned into digital pictures.  400asa is just fine for B&W film like Tri-X, but that’s a different story. Ah, now it’s clear – you’re talking about color film.  I’ve used TMAX pushed up as far as 1600 for some concert photos, and I actually like the character of the grain that I get.  As for color stuff, I don’t get into it much.  Just grab my little Konica APS camera and shoot some snaps when I’m on Holiday. The new line of Sony digital cameras are pretty darn good for eBay images. I did some with a DSC-S30 including some closeups images of tubes that came out great. I used Photo Deluxe to crop and edit the images to the desired sizes. I’d skip all the "webcam" video cameras though. The image quality sucks and they are basically for porn chats.

Response:

its pretty straight forward. the camera only stores 12 high quality pics at a time (built in memory), though. You can set it to low Q and it’ll store something like 18 or 20. -Jeremy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->If you want a cheap one that’ll do the job, try walmart!!! Kodak announced a new, inexpensive digital camera that should be out by Christmas at a price under $100 that should give more than a mega pixel of resolution.  I’d wait a couple of months for this new technology. Wayne

Cool, I should pay attention to the photo mags and see if they’ve reviewed an advance copy of the thing.  I don’t have a digital camera yet, but I’d like one. The timing sounds about right for 1.3MPPI camera to hit the streets in October for Christmas. Right now for $99 you can get an AFGA camera at 640×480 with USB.  It can be used for Video conferencing, and works pretty well. This is NOT one of the Web Cams, its an actual camera. I must admit, it would be tempting to wait a month fro higher resolution. Anybody have some hardcore info? PJ
