Packing for an all inclusive resort

Question:

Experience Needed! We are going to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and staying at the H-10 resort for a period of 2 weeks over the Xmas/New Years holidays.  I don’t want to over pack, but then again I do want to be presentable/comfortable at the dinner sessions, especially at the Xmas and New Year’s Eve Galas. I really would appreciate your help and suggestions. Thanks in advance Vancouver B.C.

No direct experience of the DR, but from our experience in the BVI, everyone overpacks for the Caribbean, including our head skipper — and me. I carry a 12"x10"x4" carry-on with a couple of swim suits, a few "T" shirts, a paperback book, personal toiletries and other essentials that never leaves my side. My other carry-on is my admittedly large camera bag. I carry a "big"/small bag for everything else, like my SCUBA fins. I wear my "dress" long pants, sweat shirt, jacket and shirt as we leave Philadelphia (in December) and change to lighter clothing as we move south, stuffing the heavy stuff in the "big" bag. If I lost the big bag (which still fits under the seat and is usually accepted as carry-on), I’d still have everything I needed for the trip, though I’d have to wash some shirts in the sink mid-trip. Check the destination’s web site(s), but I’m pretty sure you could survive with what you have on when you first board your flight, a few "T"s, swimsuits and shorts. BTW, it really is a good idea to wear something like a blue shirt and khaki pants when passing through Customs, and that’s pretty much dress up where we’ve been, so that’s what *I* wear. If your "warmth" jacket can be worn with a tie and your blue and khaki, you’ll be set for any eventuality. — Jere Lull Xan-a-Deux — ‘73 Tanzer 28 #4 — out of Tolchester, MD Xan’s Pics & Specs: http://members.dca.net/jerelull/X-Main.html Our BVI Vacation trip FAQ (250+ Annotated pics): http://members.dca.net/jerelull/BVI.html

Was in the DR in Jan heading there for Xmas.  Be careful not to overpack.  As you spend most of your time in your bathing suit.  Shorts & T’s  If you are going out you might want something a bit more than that I found that a sundress was great and comfortable.  Bring your own faceclothes as you find any in the DR.   Have a great trip and don’t drink the water!!! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Experience Needed! > We are going to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and staying at the H-10 > resort for a period of 2 weeks over the Xmas/New Years holidays.  I don’t > want to over pack, but then again I do want to be presentable/comfortable at > the dinner sessions, especially at the Xmas and New Year’s Eve Galas. > I really would appreciate your help and suggestions. > Thanks in advance > Vancouver B.C.

Try debbies site  www.debbiesdominicantravel.com for info on this and other places on D.R. We also used www.hispaniola.com  when we stayed in Caberette. Darby in Victoria.
